How to Make Chicken Fried Rice at Home

About Chicken Fried Rice:

Chicken fried rice is a dish of cooked rice that has been stir-fried in a wok or a frying pan with chicken, vegetables, and eggs.  Chicken fried rice is a delicious dish packed with flavours and it can be made within 15 minutes if you have cooked rice, chicken, and chopped vegetables already ready.  You can make this chicken fried rice on any lazy days or lazy weekends.  This is very easy for beginners who are trying to learn cooking.  It tastes as good as the restaurants.

Ingredients:

  • 250-300 grams of boneless chicken cut into thin strips or in small pieces.
  • 2 cups of long grain basmati rice.
  • 2 eggs.
  • 8-10 garlic cloves finely chopped.
  • 1/2 tablespoons of finely chopped ginger.
  • Freshly grounded black pepper powder to taste.
  • 2 tablespoons of soya sauce.
  • Finely chopped green chillies to taste.
  • Salt to taste.
  • Water as required to boil the rice.
  • 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar.
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage.
  • 1 medium sized carrot finely chopped.
  • 1 medium sized green bell pepper finely chopped.
  • Some finely chopped spring onion greens.
  • Some Finely chopped French beans.
  • 3 tablespoons of cooking oil/sesame oil/olive oil.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic ginger paste.
  • 1 medium sized onion thinly sliced.

Note:  You may increase or decrease the quantity of ingredients depending on for how many people you are making for.

Marination of Chicken:

  1.  Take a mixing bowl and add on the chicken strips.
  2.  Then, add salt to taste, garlic ginger paste, freshly grounded black pepper powder to taste, and 1 tablespoon soya sauce and mix all the ingredients well.
  3.  Then, keep the marinated chicken aside for at least 15-20 minutes.

Boiling of Rice:

  1.  Wash the rice 3-4 times and then soak the rice for 15-20 minutes.
  2.  After 20 minutes, drain all the water from the rice and keep aside.
  3.  Then, take a deep heavy bottom pan and add required amount of water to cook the rice.
  4.  Then, turn on the flame and let the water come to a boil.
  5.  When water comes to a boil, add salt to taste and 1/2 teaspoon of cooking oil.
  6.  Then, add the soaked long grain basmati rice and cook it on a medium to high flame for 7-8 minutes or until rice is well-cooked.
  7.  When rice is well-cooked, turn off the flame and strain the rice and keep aside for later use.

Method of Making Chicken Fried Rice:

  1.  Break the eggs into a bowl and whisk well.
  2.  Then, take a wok or pan and turn on the flame.
  3.  When pan is hot, add 1 tablespoons of cooking oil.
  4.  When oil is hot, add whisked eggs, salt to taste, and freshly grounded black pepper powder and then scramble the eggs on a medium flame.  It will take approximately 1-2 minutes.
  5.  Then, transfer the scrambled eggs into a plate and keep aside for later use.
  6.  Then, on the same pan add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil.
  7.  When oil hot, add on the marinated chicken pieces and fry them on a low to medium flame until chickens are well cooked and tender.
  8.  Then, turn off the flame and transfer the fried chicken pieces into a plate or bowl and keep aside.
  9.  Then, take a wok or a pan and turn on the flame.
  10.  When pan is hot, add 1 tablespoons of cooking oil.
  11.  When oil is hot, add on the chopped garlic and saute for 15-20 seconds, do not brown the garlics.
  12.  Then, add on the chopped ginger and chopped green chillies to taste and saute for 20 seconds.
  13.  Then, add thinly sliced onions and saute on a high flame until onion turns translucent.
  14.  Then, add on the chopped vegetables like carrot, beans, cabbage, and green bell peppers and saute on a high flame for 1-2 minutes.
  15.  Then, add fried chicken and mix well.
  16.  Then, add cooked rice, salt to taste, freshly grounded black pepper, 1 tablespoon soya sauce, 1/2 tablespoon vinegar and mix all the ingredients well.
  17.  Then, add the scrambled egg and spring onion greens and toss them well.
  18. Then, turn off the flame and transfer the chicken fried rice to a serving bowl and serve hot with any sauce of your choice.
