About Coconut Burfi:
Coconut burfi is a delicious and mouthwatering Indian sweet recipe made with grated coconut, sugar, milk and cardamom powder. This is a simple and delicious sweet made with very minimum ingredients. This is a most commonly made sweet during festivals like Holi, Diwali or any special occasions.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of grated coconut.
- 1/2 cup of sugar or to taste.
- 1-2 tablespoons of ghee.
- 1 cup of cream or milk.
- Some saffron stands.
- 1 teaspoon green cardamom powder.
- Some finely chopped dry nuts like almond and pistachio (optional).
Note: You may increase or decrease the quantity of ingredients depending on your taste and for how many people you are making for.
Method of Making Coconut Burfi:
- Take a kadai and add on the grated coconut and milk/cream and mix well.
- Then, turn on the flame and cook the coconut until it absorbs all the milk. Stir occasionally.
- Then, add sugar, saffron strands, and cardamom powder and mix well and cook on a medium flame until sugar dissolves completely.
- Then, add 1 tablespoon and mix well.
- Then, continue to cook the coconut mixture on a medium flame until all moisture evaporates or until it starts to separate from the kadai and forms into a dough and then turn off the flame.
- Then, take a plate and grease with some ghee.
- Then, transfer the coconut mixture into the plate and spread evenly.
- Then, add some chopped dry nuts over it and press very gently with a spatula and set aside for 2-3 hours on room temperature or keep in the fridge for 1 hour and then cut into your desire shape.
- Then, serve the coconut burfi to your family or friends or store in an airtight container for a week in the fridge.
