How to Make Italian Bruschetta at Home

About Italian Bruschetta:

Italian bruschetta is an antipasto from Italy consisting of grilled bread rubbed with garlic and topped with tomato, onion, fresh basil leaves, salt, pepper, and olive oil.  Bruschetta is a classic Italian starter.  Italian bruschetta is a staple menu in Italian restaurants all over the world.

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 ripe tomatoes, seeded and diced.
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic minced.
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic for rubbing on toasted bread.
  • 2-3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.
  • 2 teaspoons of balsamic vinegar.
  • Some finely chopped fresh basil leaves.
  • Salt to taste.
  • Freshly grounded black pepper powder to taste.
  • Tuscan bread or baguette sliced as required.
  • 1 small onion finely chopped.

Note:  You may increase or decrease the quantity of ingredients depending on your taste and for how many people you are making for.

Method of Making Italian Bruschetta:

  1.  Take a mixing bowl and add in the chopped tomatoes, onions, chopped basil leaves, minced garlic, salt to taste, and freshly grounded black pepper to taste.
  2.  Add balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil to the above ingredients and mix everything well and keep aside.
  3.  Take the slice of bread and brush them with olive oil on both sides of the bread.
  4.  Grill the bread slices for about a minute on each side or until bread pieces are nicely charred.
  5.  While the bread slices are warm, rub the garlic clove directly onto the surface of each slice of bread.
  6.  Top the slices with the tomato topping, drizzle some extra virgin olive oil over the topping, and garnish the bruschetta with some chopped basil leaves and the Italian Bruschetta is ready to serve.
